Believe it or not, I started out as a marine biologist that studied and specialized in sharks - YES sharks! So it's fairly safe to say that I like adventure! It required a fair amount of travel across the country and to the Bahamas for field work. I started to quickly realize that with every new place I visited, I became more emboldened with my travels. I had this urgent need to stray from the well-worn path and find immersive and experiential connections.
My husband and I are born adventurers and are very fortunate to have visited some amazing places thus far. We believe in experiencing places like a local, leaving nothing but footprints, and taking nothing but pictures. We're both marine biologists, so we support ecologically sustainable suppliers whenever possible, especially when we can see how wildlife tours are directly impacted (whale watching, diving, sea turtle nesting programs, etc). We always learn a bit of the language of the countries we plan to travel to as well. I'm better at Hindi, and my husband is better at Mandarin (although don't tell him I told you that)!
We've traveled all over the United States, and our passport books hold stamps for the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia (the African continent is up next)! So far we’ve hiked in Kathmandu, haggled for bargains in Jaipur, been to the Forbidden City in Beijing, swam with sharks in the Bahamas, danced with new friends at Oktoberfest, rode rollercoasters in Copenhagen, and fawned over history and architecture in Roma.
After several years of planning travel for friends and family, I quickly realized that I had a knack for it - along with organization. I wanted to bring my love of travel and adventure to others. That's how Just the Ticket Travels was born!
The only thing we should take when traveling are photos. Likewise, the only thing we should leave behind when traveling are footprints! That's why we strive to work with travel suppliers and companies that are eco-friendly and work diligently to do things sustainably. Some of the initiatives our suppliers have enacted and believe in:
